Presiden News – Donald John Trump, a businessman and media personality, was re-elected as the 47th president of the United States in 2024. Born on June 14, 1946 in Queens, New York, Trump comes from a family of real estate developers. His father, Fred Trump, was a successful businessman, and from there Donald learned the basics of the property business early on. After completing his education at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Trump began his career in the family business, The Trump Organization.
Trump is famous for his luxury property projects, such as hotels, casinos, and resorts in various parts of the world. Outside of the real estate business, he also became a media icon with the television show “The Apprentice,” which further added to his popularity among the American public. In 2016, with the slogan “Make America Great Again,” Trump ran for president and won the election, defeating Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
During his first term, Trump focused on pro-business and conservative policies, with notable achievements including tax reform, the rollback of several business regulations, and the appointment of three conservative Supreme Court justices. His foreign policy promotes an “America First” approach that emphasizes America’s economic and security interests in international relations, including by pressuring allies to pay more into military alliances such as NATO.
Despite his policy successes, Trump has faced controversy and criticism. His tough policies on immigration, tensions with Iran, and confrontational approach to the media and political opponents were highlighted, as well as his influence on an increasingly polarized political landscape. After losing the 2020 election, Trump remained active in politics, voicing dissatisfaction with the election results.
In 2024, Trump ran again for the presidency on a platform that highlighted economic, immigration and security issues. His victory made history in American politics, as he became one of the few presidents to return to office after a gap in terms.
Trump is known as a controversial figure but remains popular among his supporters. Back in the White House, he committed to strengthening the American economy, reducing regulations deemed burdensome to businesses, and implementing tough policies against illegal immigration, with a promise to “Make America Great Again, Again.”
